How often should I have a health physical?
While many U.S. physicians advocate the standard physical examination be performed every three years, We believe a comprehensive, executive physical exam should be performed every 14 – 18 months. This practice stems from data that shows the best timeframe in which physicians will identify early manifestations of disease or illness.

What's included in a CEM Executive Physical?
An executive health physical is a comprehensive, stream-lined medical evaluation in which a battery of tests and consultations are ordered at a medical facility working in conjunction with Dr. Mariano’s office. Dr. Mariano pre-orders these studies with the approval of the patient. When the tests are completed, the patient meets with Dr. Mariano to review their past history, current medical history and concerns, and review the findings from recent testing at the medical facility.

The executive physical serves as an intensive evaluation of an individual’s potential for disease. Dr. Mariano performs an extensive review of each patient’s past medical and family history along with consulting national standards for testing timeframes in an effort to individualize the studies recommended for each exam. This approach not only saves the patients time but it also saves money by dispensing with unnecessary testing found in many “cookbook” executive exam programs.
Dr. Mariano provides her patients considerable time in reviewing the medical history and discussing any other issues her patients may not otherwise mention in a standard physical exam; even minor symptoms are viewed as relevant and deserving of scrutiny. The exam period can last anywhere from eight hours to up to two days of testing and consultations, depending on the number of tests and consultations ordered to fully address the patient’s medical concerns.
While many tests in the executive physical may be covered by insurance, the CEM advises patients to expect that costs for many of the screening tests will come out of pocket. Despite the cost, these screening tests can be life-saving: patients may be screened for potentially over 200 diseases that are not normally screened for in a standard physical. The benefit of this screening is that it could result in early diagnosis and treatment of disease before symptoms develop or before the condition becomes difficult to cure or treat.
